This
year continues to fly by and Sisterhood is busily organizing
many wonderful events. Just this last month, our annual
toy drive was once again met with an overwhelming response.
Thank you to everyone who dropped off new unwrapped toys
to the religious school office – you helped many
less fortunate children have a much happier holiday season.
Kudos to Robin Glassberg, Joanne Schneider and Carol Rothstein
for organizing this mitzvah.
Our WJC college students received their annual Chanukah
surprises thanks to Susi Schuster and Helene Kamin. They
assembled over 40 care packages with the help of several
volunteers. The packages are always much appreciated.
We couldn’t have done it without you and your volunteers!
Thanks again to Dr. Meisel for his participation in making
the packages so terrific. Sisterhood can send packages
for Purim and Passover to any student once you provide
the address to us.
Our book club once again met on Monday, December 15th.
The book, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows was a good stepping
stone for discussion. This NY Times fiction best seller
recently optioned for a full length motion picture. Maybe
next year sisterhood will have a movie night! As always,
thanks to Karen Malin for organizing our book club. Keep
your eyes open for the next selection which is always
advertised in the Green Sheet and the club is scheduled
to meet again January 20th, March 3rd, April 23rd and
June 2nd.
Our New member welcome, Wine and Cheese was held on Wednesday,
December 17, 2008. Our Rebbitzin Fran Adler was a most
gracious hostess as new members and seasoned sisterhood
members met each other and were treated to noshes and
information about the many facets of this dynamic sisterhood.
Thank you to our chairs Jackie Feinstein and Ellen Lowitt
for putting this fun evening together.
Have your New Year get off to a good start by joining
sisterhood for an evening with Whole Health Coach, Debi
Silber. We have a special night planned on January 28,
7:00 pm. Ms. Silber’s topic “Are you the empowered,
confident, fit, healthy and happy mom you’d always
hoped you would be?” promises to be an informative
evening. Thanks to Felice Linder Field for putting this
program together. Please RSVP to me at ontherun@optonline.net.
Nothing better epitomizes the caring and giving of Sisterhood
than on our annual Mitzvah Day. Keep an eye out for the
flyers and information posted in the Green Sheet on line.
So many activities are offered which allow everyone to
give “tzedakah” in various ways. Thanks to
our wonderful Tikun Olam (community service) Vice Presidents
and the many volunteers who always help out.
It’s time to think about Purim and the annual tradition
of sending Schalach Manot baskets to your friends and
family. Share the happiness this year by ordering baskets
of goodies for your loved ones to help them celebrate.
The Shalach Manot order forms will be mailed shortly and
are due back ASAP. Don’t miss out. When ordering,
don’t forget to check the reciprocity box to ensure
that no one is overlooked. Questions? Call Susi Schuster
@ 367-8708. Mah Jongg cards and the 2007-2008 Entertainment
Books are available from Susi as well.
Paul, Iliza, Benjamin and Samantha join me in wishing
you and yours a happy, healthy and peaceful 2009.
