Mark and I wish you and your family a happy and healthy New Year and hope that our Synagogue’s recent excursion to Israel was spectacular and spiritually rewarding.

In recent weeks, your Men’s Club has been engaged in the planning of several activities:

• Continued sponsorship of Monday morning minyans on the first Monday of each month. So come down and have breakfast with us after minyan.

• Sunday morning “hoops”, under the direction of Chet Greenspan; so if you are interested in some Sunday morning exercise with your peers, please get in touch with Chet.

• We remain in contact with Congressman Pete King’s office to have him visit us to discuss issues of national interest including homeland security, Israel and his views on the new administration. Details to follow when confirmed.

Once again the Men’s Club would like to schedule either a Ski Weekend or a single day ski excursion in late January-early February. However, before such an event can be planned, the Men’s Club needs to have some feedback from the congregation regarding your interest. To that end, I would appreciate it if you could contact me directly either by phone (day: 516-746-2434/evening: 516-922-6644) or email (rmpeskin@cs.com). Let me know if you would be interested and if so what your preference is. Should there be enough interest, we will proceed accordingly.

I’m sure you can appreciate that planning for the future requires considerable foresight. Our Men’s Club Board has been brainstorming in an effort to come up with new and fresh ideas that will be both attractive and well-attended. Judging from the response to a few of our events, it is apparent that we have not always succeeded in accomplishing this objective. However, we continue to persevere.

Your input on potential Men’s Club sponsored events is always welcomed and appreciated. It is the sincere hope of the Men’s Club Board to implement events that you would like to see happen. However for that to occur, we need not only your input, but also, your help and participation. In the mean time, additional information on all Men’s Club activities can be found in the Shofar, or by visiting WJC’s website by clicking on www.thewjc.org/mcevents.htm.

We look forward to seeing you at the WJC gala on Saturday evening, January 24th, at which time, a dear friend and benefactor of the Men’s Club, Debbie Daniels, will be honored. Please come show your appreciation to Debbie in support of her tireless work and generosity to The WJC.
